We are proud to introduce a Scholarship contest aimed at discovering and supporting high school musical theater students in South Carolina.

This program is open to all High School Students living in South Carolina. We are currently accepting video submissions and applications at this link: “South Carolina’s Next Broadway Star" Pre-Screen 2025

From the video submissions, 50 semi-finalists will be invited to Greenville to compete. All sem-finalists will win a scholarship to the SCNPF Insider Sessions. From those semi-finalists, 12 will move on to a public final round which will open with a performance by TONY-winner Celia Keenan Bolger and TONY-Nominee John Ellison Conlee, and then the 12 finalists will perform and receive public feedback from John and Celia as well as from Broadway Casting Director, Merri Sugarman.

The top three contestants will be awarded scholarships to further their theater education: 1st Place $5,000, 2nd Place $2,500, 3rd Place $1,000. The scholarship funds can be applied to tuition, application fees, travel expenses for theater programs, or private acting lessons and workshops.

The pre-screen audition is comprised of filming and uploading a video of yourself performing a musical theater song.

Instructions for Recording your Musical Theater Song

  1. Please film and submit a video of you performing 1 (one) song from a Broadway Musical. It may be from any genre or any time period. Choose material that you can connect with, feel confident doing, and that shows your performance skills.

  2. The Selection must be memorized.

  3.  The selection must have accompaniment (piano track, backing track from YouTube, or live accompanist in video).

  4.  Please introduce yourself at the beginning of the video. Ex:

“Hi my name is___________ and I will be performing (Title of song) from (Title of Musical)”

  5.  Tips for a successful video:

-Please check your video for sound. Check for sound balance prior to submitting to make sure the accompaniment track is not too loud or overpowering your singing.

-Dress appropriately for the video as if it were a professional audition.

-Please stand while you are singing your piece and video yourself straight on (not from an angle).

-Please video your full torso from the knees up.

-Most of all, have fun performing and show your personality.
